[MCP limits and plan requirements]
Metricool MCP works on any Metricool plan, including Free. Your Metricool plan limits still apply to what the MCP can query, schedule, or publish after you connect.

Use this page to check plan access, Free-plan limits that affect MCP, and client-side requirements that are separate from your Metricool plan.

## Metricool plan requirements

MCP access does not require a paid Metricool plan. The Metricool API is a different product and is limited to higher plans.

| Access method | Metricool plan |
| --- | --- |
| Metricool MCP | Any plan, including Free |
| Metricool API | Advanced or Custom only |

For the full comparison of when to use each method, see [MCP vs API access: what is the difference?](https://help.metricool.com/mcp-vs-api-access-what-is-the-difference-5y3ib).

## Limits that still apply after you connect

Connecting MCP does not raise your Metricool plan limits. Actions you take through an AI client count against the same plan rules as actions in the Metricool app.

Verified Free-plan examples that affect MCP usage:

- **Scheduling:** Free accounts cannot schedule more than 20 posts.
- **Analytics history:** Free includes access to 30 days of analytics / metrics storage.

Paid plans extend these limits. If the MCP connects successfully but an action fails or data looks incomplete, check your plan limits before treating it as a connection error.

> [!INFO]
> Some AI clients offer a token-based connection that uses the Metricool API instead of MCP OAuth. That path requires Advanced and is not the same as MCP access on Free. See [MCP vs API access: what is the difference?](https://help.metricool.com/mcp-vs-api-access-what-is-the-difference-5y3ib).

## Client requirements outside Metricool

These limits come from the AI client or platform, not from your Metricool plan:

- **Claude Free:** remote MCP custom connectors are available, but Free users can use only one custom connector at a time.
- **Claude Code:** requires a Claude Pro or Max subscription and installation from the Claude Code product page.
- **Cursor:** the documented Metricool MCP install path requires the Cursor Desktop app.
- **ChatGPT:** your ChatGPT account must have access to Apps so you can connect external tools. Which ChatGPT plans include Apps is controlled by OpenAI.

For Claude-specific compatibility and setup, see [How to connect Metricool's MCP with Claude](https://help.metricool.com/how-to-connect-metricools-mcp-with-claude-0l84v). ## What MCP can access within your plan

When you authorize MCP, the connected client can use these Metricool capabilities within your plan limits:

- **See, create, and publish** posts in any connected network
- **See and manage** all your Smartlinks
- **See and manage** all inbox messages and post comments
- **See and manage** all GMB reviews
- **See and manage** the Ads campaigns of the accounts connected to any of your brands
- **See and manage** your autolists
- **See** folders and files of any Canva or Drive accounts connected to Metricool
