Install and Set Up the Metricool MCP in Claude Desktop

Here's how you can get the Metricool MCP all set up in your Claude Desktop app.

Step 1: Grab Claude Desktop and Hit the Repo

  1. Download Claude Desktop: First off, make sure you've got Claude Desktop installed on your OS—whether it's macOS, Windows, or whatever. You can grab it from claude.ai/download.
  2. Access the Metricool MCP Repo: Open up your browser and head over to this URL: https://github.com/metricool/mcp-metricool.

Step 2: Download the Metri MCP

  1. Find the UV Link: Once you're in the GitHub repo, look for and click on the UV link.
  2. Copy the Download Command: On the UV link page, copy the very first line of the command you see. It'll be a little different if you're on macOS versus Windows.
  3. Open Your Terminal: Fire up a new terminal window on your computer.
  4. Paste and Run the Command: Paste the line you copied into the terminal and hit Enter. This will start downloading all the Metricool MCP components you need.

Step 3: Configure Claude Desktop

  1. Copy the Configuration Code: After the download, the video tells you to copy an extra block of code. This code is super important for the setup.
  2. Open Claude Desktop Settings:
  • Launch your Claude Desktop app (you'll need the Pro version for this).
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Developer.
  • Click on Edit configuration. This will open up Claude Desktop's config file.
  1. Paste the Config Code: Paste the code you copied into that open config file.
  2. Update Your Metri Credentials: Inside the code you just pasted, you'll need to find and replace the placeholders with your Metricool User Token and User ID. Make sure those are the right credentials!
  3. Save Your Changes: Save the configuration file.

Step 4: Restart Claude Desktop and Fix Errors (If Needed)

  1. Restart the Claude Desktop App: Close and then re-open your Claude Desktop app.
  2. Handle Connection Errors: If you get an error when you restart, like "could not connect to MCP server" or something similar, here's what to do:
  • Go back to Settings > Developer > Edit configuration.
  • Find the configuration line you need to tweak.
  • Open your terminal again.
  • Run the command UV space to D blah blah blah.
  • Copy the new line generated by the terminal.
  • Paste this new line into the Claude Desktop config file, making sure to include a slash (/) at the end if it's needed.
  • Save your changes and restart the Claude Desktop app one more time.

Step 5: Verify the Installation

Once the app restarts, you should see that the MCP is working fine. For instance, you might see options like "MCP Mexico" and be able to start using integrated features, like searching for brands.
