Everything You Can Check About Your Account and Your Plan in Metricool

Wondering if you have the right permissions in Metricool? Need to confirm which features you can use based on your plan? This guide explains how to verify your user role, check your access permissions, and review your plan limits so you know exactly what you can do with your account.

📌 In this article:

How to verify your user role and permissions

If you collaborate in a shared brand or work as part of a team, it’s important to know your assigned role so you understand your access permissions.

  1. Identify if a brand is shared

Shared brands are easy to spot:

  • Log into your Metricool account
  • Open the brand dropdown menu at the top
  • Shared brands display a two-person icon next to the name

Hover over the two-person icon to quickly see your assigned role for that brand without navigating anywhere else.

  1. Access User Management

To see detailed information about your role and permissions:

Go to the top menu and click the three horizontal lines on the right

Select User Management from the dropdown menu

You'll see two tabs:

  • Users: a list of all people with access and their roles per brand
  • Roles and permissions: a detailed description of each permission type

The User Management feature is only available on Advanced and Custom plans. If you're on the Free or Starter plan, you won’t see this option in the menu.

  1. Compare your expected permissions with your assigned ones

Once you're in User Management, you can check if your permissions match what you were expecting:

  • Search for your name or email in the Users tab
  • Review the role assigned to each brand
  • Click the Roles and permissions tab to understand what each role includes

Types of permissions in Metricool

There are three main categories of permissions:

  • View permissions: allow you to see information but not make changes
  • Edit permissions: include viewing, plus modifying and downloading
  • Brand Management permissions: full access to brand configuration, including connection management and user/role administration

If a publishing error occurs, only users with Brand Management permissions and the account owner will receive the error notification. If you don't have these permissions, you won’t receive alerts about publishing issues.

How to verify your plan details

To confirm which plan you have and what limits apply, follow these steps:

  1. Open your account settings

  • In the top menu, click the three horizontal lines on the right
  • Select Account settings
  • Go to the Plans and billing section

You can also use the shortcut:

  • In the dropdown menu, you'll find a direct link to Plan and billing that takes you straight there

  1. Review your plan information

Inside Plans and billing, you’ll see:

  • Your current plan (Free, Starter, Advanced, or Custom)
  • Your billing cycle (monthly or yearly)
  • The renewal date
  • Your billing history
  • Options to change or cancel your plan

From this same section, you can download invoices, update your payment method, and edit billing details — all in one place.

  1. Check the limitations of your plan

Each plan has specific limits. Here are the main restrictions of the FREE plan:

  • You can only connect one brand (you cannot delete it to connect new profiles)
  • No connection to LinkedIn or X (Twitter)
  • Limited analytics access with 3 months of history and watermark
  • No report downloads in PDF or PPT
  • Competitor analysis limited to 5 fixed competitors (excludes YouTube and X )
  • Up to 50 posts per month in the planner
  • AI text generator limited to 5 credits per month
  • No hashtag search tool for Instagram or TikTok (only top 10 popular hashtags)
  • No access to Post Library, Canva, Google Drive, Looker Studio, Zapier, or SmartLinks

If you hit your monthly posting limit or need features that aren’t available in your plan, you can upgrade anytime from Plans and billing. The change is instant, and the system prorates the unused time from your current plan.

🛠️ Troubleshooting common issues

➡️ I don’t see the “User Management” option

This feature is only available on Advanced and Custom plans. If you're on the Free or Starter plan, you won't have access.

If you think you should have access but don’t see it, first verify your plan from the Plans and billing section.

➡️ I can’t access features I should have based on my role

If your assigned permissions don’t match what you expect:

  • Contact the brand owner: Only the account owner or users with Brand Management permissions can modify roles
  • Check your invitation email: The original email shows which brands you were given access to and your assigned role
  • Ensure you're on the correct brand: You might have different roles across different brands

➡️ I see “Go Premium” even though I was shared a premium brand

This is totally normal. Premium access belongs to the account owner who manages the subscription.

If you're using a free account but were shared a premium brand, you'll still see the “Go Premium” message, but you can use all premium features within that shared brand.

Don’t worry about the message — as long as you're inside a shared brand with the right permissions, you'll have full access to its premium features.

➡️ I’m not sure who the brand owner is

If you don't know who owns the brand, contact your team or the person who gave you access so they can confirm it.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can I view billing information if I only have access to a shared brand?

No. Invited users can only access the brands that were shared with them. They cannot view billing info, subscription details, or other account brands.

How do I know if I have admin permissions?

Check in User Management whether your role is “Admin” or includes “Brand Management” permissions. These roles let you connect social networks, change brand settings, and manage other users.

How many people can have access to a brand?

There is no user limit per brand on Advanced and Custom plans. Invite as many people as you need.

Can I have different roles in different brands?

Yes. You might be an Admin on one brand and an Editor on another. Permissions are assigned per brand, not per account.
