Sharing and transferring brands on Metricool
Share Brands
For better management, it is common for agencies and clients to need access to the brand. The Advanced and Custom plans allow sharing brands, granting personalized access to each brand from user management.
The account owning the brand will be the one paying the subscription and can grant access to other users without limitation. Remember that if you give access to a free account, the "Become Premium" message will still be displayed; however, it will have premium functionalities on the shared brands.
You can revoke or modify the access to your shared brands at any time.
ℹ️ For more info, check out the article Shared Brands in Metricool.
Transfer Brands
Transferring or migrating a brand means changing its owner. This process transfers the data history and scheduled content.
In the Metricool URL, you will identify the brand as blogid and the owner as userid; therefore, the blogid will be transferred to another userid.
It is possible to transfer complete brands to another Metricool account:
From Free to Premium
From Premium to Premium
ℹ️ If you access a shared brand with Premium features from a Free account, your account is still considered Free. Only the account that manages and pays for the subscription is considered Premium.
To proceed, you must contact us through the online chat from the brand's owning account (source) and provide the email of the destination account. In a few minutes, the brand will change ownership and will no longer be available in the source account.
Subscriptions and account access
⚠️ You can’t transfer subscriptions between accounts.
Subscriptions are tied to a specific account (userid) and can’t be moved. If you need to use a subscription on another account, you’ll have to cancel it and subscribe again from the correct account.
✅ Alternative if you don’t want to lose the subscription
If you just want to change the email or the person in charge without losing the active subscription, you can update the account login details.
Just make sure the new email isn’t already registered on Metricool.
Go to Account settings > Access and update the credentials from the original account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose the history and scheduled content when transferring a brand?
No, as the data history and scheduled content are transferred; only the brand changes ownership.
Why does "Become Premium" appear in my account if the team purchased a Premium plan to share brands?
This means your account is free, but you will still have premium functionalities on the shared brands. The premium account is the one managing the subscription.
I stopped working with an agency, how do I claim ownership of the brand?
In this case, you need a premium account to transfer the brand to yourself. You will need to ask the agency to contact us via online chat and provide your account email, which will become the owner once the migration is complete.
I no longer work with the client, how do I transfer the brand ownership to them?
The client must have a premium account, and you can provide their account details via chat to transfer the brand, making it their property.
Why is a shared brand no longer appearing for me?
The owner or user with access to the brand management can revoke shared access or delete the brand at any time, so you should contact the person who managed your access directly.
I have a Premium account but previously had a Free account. Do I need to reconnect the networks?
No, it is not necessary. Since you have a premium account, you can request a migration. Remember to request it through the online chat from the account owning the brand.
Can I transfer my brand and keep the subscription active in the new account?
No. Subscriptions don’t transfer with brands. Only the brand (blogid) moves, while the subscription stays with the original account (userid).
Is a Free account with a shared Premium brand considered Premium?
No. That account is still Free, even if it can use Premium features within the shared brand.
A Premium account is the one that manages and pays for an active subscription.
