Why was my TikTok video posted without sound?
My video was posted without sound
At Metricool, we send the request to post your content to TikTok exactly as you scheduled it. However, TikTok may remove or mute the audio of your videos for various reasons, mainly related to copyright infringements or violations of Community Guidelines (you will only receive a notification if you added the original sound yourself). Here are the most common causes and how you can resolve them:
Copyright infringement: If you use music or sounds protected by copyright without proper authorization, TikTok may mute your video to comply with intellectual property laws. To avoid this issue, it is recommended to use sounds available in TikTok's library, which are authorized for use on the platform.
Violations of Community Guidelines: Content that violates TikTok's Community Guidelines, such as inappropriate material or content promoting illegal activities, may result in the removal of audio or even the entire video. Make sure your content complies with these guidelines to avoid penalties.
Use of business accounts: Business accounts have restrictions on the use of copyrighted music. If you use a business account and play copyrighted music, TikTok may mute your video. To avoid this, you can switch to a personal account or use royalty-free music available in TikTok’s library.
Why does sound play if I post directly from the TikTok app?
Direct-post validations may take longer to process, so when you post, the video initially includes sound. However, if TikTok detects any infringement, it will eventually mute the video. When posting through TikTok's third-party API, as with Metricool, validation occurs when the request to publish is sent, which is why the video is posted directly without sound.
What to do if my video is posted without sound?
Check the reason for the mute:
Open the TikTok app and go to the muted video.
Tap "View details" at the bottom.
Here, you can see if the sound was removed due to a copyright claim or a Community Guidelines violation.
Replace the sound:
On the muted video, tap "Replace sound."
Select a new audio from TikTok's library that is allowed.
Save the changes and re-post the video.
Use royalty-free music:
Choose sounds and music available in TikTok's library, as they are authorized for use on the platform.
By following these recommendations, you can minimize the chances of TikTok removing audio from your videos and ensure that your content complies with the platform’s policies. For more details, check TikTok support here.
