Frequently asked questions

How do I delete a post?

You can delete a post from the Calendar, click on the post and click on the trash can icon. You can also delete in bulk from the List of posts, by selecting the posts and clicking on Bulk actions > Delete.
Note that you will only delete the content in Metricool, if the post is already published, you will have to delete it from the social network (the same criteria applies for editing).

Can I edit a post after it has been published?

No. Once a post has been published to a social network, you cannot edit it through Metricool. Social network APIs generally do not allow third-party tools to modify published content. If you need to change a published post, edit it directly on the social network platform.

You can still edit content in Metricool while a post is being created or scheduled. For details, see Multiposting: edit per social network and Edit images and videos while scheduling your content.

What happens if I delete a post while it's processing or in progress?

When you delete a post that's in processing or in progress status, there's no guarantee it won't be published. This is because Metricool may have already sent the publishing request to the social network. In that case, the following may occur:

  • The post does get published on the social network if the request was already in progress.

  • Or the process fails, if the network doesn't respond correctly or an error occurs.
In short: deleting a post in this status doesn't ensure it will be canceled, even though it disappears from the Metricool calendar.

Can I create a single post for different social networks?

Yes, you can create a single publication and adapt it for each network. Check the article How to schedule content in multiple social networks?. When you save, as many publications will be created in the calendar as networks you have selected.

How do I preview the Instagram feed?

You can preview the feed by clicking on the three dots (next to the filter) > Preview feed. You can also preview it when creating a post by selecting FEED in the preview.

Why is there a difference in quality or color when publishing?
What does the error mean on Instagram "The video format is not supported. Please check spec for supported bit_rate format"?

The error indicates that the video does not meet the correct parameters. Check your video settings, the maximum audio bit rate is 128 kbps and the video bit rate is 25000 kbps. If they exceed the limit, you will have to modify the parameters to plan in Metricool. Access a free online converter here.

Why am I getting the error Application does not have permission for this action on Instagram?

It is due to a permissions issue to post to Instagram automatically. You can fix it by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the dashboard.

  2. Disconnect your Facebook page and Instagram account.

  3. Reconnect your Facebook page and your associated Instagram account will be automatically connected.

  4. Accept all Facebook permissions.

When finished you will be able to post on Instagram automatically as normal.

My account appears restricted on Instagram, why is this?

Instagram (and also Facebook) can apply restrictions to accounts completely or only for API publishing. The most common reasons are:

  • Because of the quality of the account, you can review it from the Instagram mobile app.

  • Because the content is being considered as spam

  • For using platforms to publish content that are not authorized by the Meta API.

The recommendation would be to log in to the social network and try a manual publication. If it works, usually retrying from Metricool usually works, however it will always depend on Instagram lifting the block to the publication through its API for third parties.
