Facebook posting errors & troubleshooting

Common errors when posting on Facebook

It may happen that when posting on Facebook in the scheduler an error message is displayed. Here are the most common ones and recommendations on how to fix them.

💡 Access your Facebook Support Inbox to check if you have any alerts on your account. You will also be able to read and reply to messages from the Facebook support team .

➡️ Code:400 - (#100) 0 does not resolve to a valid user ID

This error means that the Facebook administrator profile that connected the page to Metricool does not currently have permissions. In this case, you would have to reconnect the page with another profile that has administrator permissions. Check the article “ Refresh connection”.

➡️ Error getting Page Access Token

This error indicates that we cannot access the token, meaning the connected admin profile no longer has permissions. Check your permissions and refresh your Facebook page connection. Follow the step-by-step guide here.

➡️ Code: 500 - An unknown error occurred

This message indicates that an unknown error occurred on Facebook. It usually occurs when the Facebook servers are not responding, due to a temporary downtime. The recommendation would be to try posting later.
We have also noticed that if the post contains many hashtags or mentions, sometimes Facebook does not process the post request correctly and throws this error.
Remember that mentions through API are limited to 3 and it is recommended not to exceed 9 hashtags, being 2-3 the recommended ones. If this is your case, try posting again reducing your mentions and/or hashtags.

➡️ Code: 400 - You're restricted from acting as your Page until you complete Page Publishing Authorization...

Facebook is restricting access to publishing until you complete the identity authorization from the personal administrator profile that granted permissions to Metricool. As indicated in the message, go back to your main profile to complete the authorization in - Settings - Account Settings - Identity Confirmation. If verification is not completed, access will be restricted indefinitely.

➡️ Code: 400 - You have been temporarily blocked from performing this action.

This error indicates that Facebook has temporarily blocked your page for violating one of its policies. The recommendation in this case would be to try to publish directly on Facebook, to verify if the block is total or only affects the publication through its API for third parties. From Metricool we do not have more information so if the blocking persists, we recommend you to contact Facebook support: go to Account Settings > Help & Support > Support Inbox > Your alerts and click on Appeal (you can access directly from this link). You will also be able to see information about the reason for the block by clicking on More information. Follow Facebook's instructions to complete the appeal process.

➡️ For security reasons, your account has limited access to the site for a few days.

This message indicates that your Facebook account has been temporarily restricted for security reasons, such as suspicious activity, possible policy violations, or unauthorized access attempts. We recommend attempting to post directly on Facebook to check if the restriction is total or only affects the publication through its API for third parties.
Since Metricool does not have further information, if the restriction persists, we recommend contacting Facebook support: go to Account Settings > Help and Support > Help Inbox > Your Alerts, and click Appeal (you can access this directly via this link). Additionally, you can see details about the restriction by clicking on "More Information." Follow Facebook's instructions to complete the appeal process.

➡️ You don't have permission to upload a video here.

We have noticed that the error "You don't have permissions to upload a video here" is not actually due to a permission issue but rather because Facebook is unable to process the video. On our end, we make several attempts to publish it, but finally they return the error. Recommendations in these cases would be:
Check if it has been published. Sometimes Facebook may "queue" the video and eventually publish it after returning an error, but the status may not be updated on our end.
Retry later; it often works in the majority of cases.

If you get a different error, please contact us via support chat.
