How to schedule your posts with AI in Metricool

The AI Scheduling feature lets you automate when to publish your content, save time, and keep your posting calendar always up to date.

🪄 How to create an AI schedule step by step

1. Create your post

Prepare your post as usual: select the networks, add text, images, or videos, and make sure there are no validation errors before scheduling.

2. Select the "Schedule with AI" option

Click on Schedule and select Schedule with AI.

Once you do, the manual date selector will disappear, as the AI will determine the publishing dates and times.

3. Write your prompt

A text box will appear where you can write your instructions.

You’ll also find three predefined prompt examples to use as a guide.

For example:

• “Schedule this post every remaining Monday of this month at 9:00 PM.”
• “Schedule this post on all my Acme Corp brands every day this week at 5:00 PM.”
• “Schedule this post for all my Acme Corp brands on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 3 weeks at 11:00 PM, according to each brand’s time zone.”

Prompt rules and limitations

To make sure your schedule runs correctly, your prompt must meet these conditions:

• It must be related to scheduling posts.
• It must include a specific time (if you don’t specify one, the AI will use the current time or may not process the request).
• It must include a date or time range (for example, “during the next 30 days”).
• If you don’t specify a time zone, Metricool will use the current brand’s time zone.
• You can schedule up to 3 months (90 days) in advance.
• Prompts should only be focused on scheduling posts, not on editing post content.

4. AI processing

Once you write your prompt, the AI will interpret the instructions and automatically generate the scheduled posts based on your criteria.

While the AI is processing:

• You’ll see a processing message.
• You can leave the window without issues — the process will continue running in the background.
• If needed, you can cancel the process while it’s still in progress.

When it’s finished, a notification will appear in Metricool so you can access the results directly.

5. Review and edit the generated posts

When the AI finishes, you’ll see the generated posts with their respective dates, times, and brands.

From this view, you can:

• Review them one by one.
• Edit dates or times if you want to adjust something.
• Remove a specific social network if you don’t want to publish there.
• Save them as drafts or schedule them directly.

If you want to adjust your setup or redo your schedule, you can modify your instructions and run AI scheduling again.

🗂️ Other available features

AI task history

From the side panel, you can access the history of AI-generated tasks from the last 30 days.

After that period, older tasks are removed to keep your history clean and relevant.

Deleting or correcting posts

If the AI generates extra posts or you made a mistake defining your brands, you can delete the generated posts before scheduling them.

Metricool will ask for confirmation before deleting them permanently.

Can I use AI scheduling if I have a FREE or Starter plan?

No, this feature is only available for Advanced and Custom plans.

Can I leave Metricool while the AI is processing the task?

Yes. The process runs in the background, and you’ll see a notification once it’s done.

Can I cancel a task in progress?

Yes, but only while the process is still running.

What happens if I don’t include a time in the prompt?

The AI will use the current time or may not process the request if it can’t interpret the schedule properly. We always recommend including a specific time.

How far in advance can I schedule with AI?

Up to a maximum of 90 days (3 months).

Can I change the dates manually after the AI generates them?

Yes, you can edit the dates or even run a new AI scheduling session with updated instructions.

Can I use this feature across multiple brands?

Yes, as long as you include them in your prompt (for example, “on all my Acme Corp brands”).

Can I send the generated posts for review?

This option isn’t currently available for AI scheduling.
