These are the specifications for images and videos when scheduling and posting multimedia content through the API:


Note that HEVC files are not supported with automatic publishing. To avoid issues, it’s recommended to use MP4 instead of MOV.When planning, files will be automatically converted to MP4.The HDR format (iPhone) is also not compatible with video publishing via API. Check how to disable it here.From our Mobile app, the maximum size allowed for importing files will be 500 MB.

FACEBOOK:


📝 Facebook also supports posts in 1080 x 1350 px format. This size, popular on Instagram, can be used if you're looking for a vertical format optimized for both platforms.


✓ Images:


  • Format :JPEG or PNG
  • Size: up to 30 MB
  • Resolution for square posts: 1200 x 1200 px
  • Resolutions for horizontal posts: 1200 x 900 px
  • Linked images: 479 × 246 pixels on computers and minimum 320 pixels wide on mobiles.


✓ Videos:


  • Format: MP4, MOV or GIF
  • Size: up to 500 MB
  • Duration: from 1 second up to 240 minutes long
  • Aspect ratio: 1:1 (for PC or mobile) or 4:5 (mobile only).
  • Video settings: H.264 video compression, square pixels, fixed frame rate, progressive scan and stereo AAC audio compression from 128 kbps.
  • Resolution: 1080 x 1080 pixels minimum.
  • Animated GIFs: Minimum height and width 120 px.


✓ Reels:


  • Duration: from 3 seconds up to 90 seconds.
  • Resolution: minimum 540 x 960 px (540p).
  • Aspect ratio: between 1.91:1 and 9:16
  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS


⚠️ A reel published as a story on a Facebook Page can't be longer than 60 seconds.


✓ Stories:


  • Story Image Specifications:


Format: JPEG/ PNG /GIF

File size: 4 MB maximum. For PNG we recommend 1 MB maximum, to avoid pixelated images.

Aspect ratio: We recommended 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space


  • Story Video Specifications


Format: MP4

Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, stereo channels.

Video codec: H264/H265, progressive scan, closed GOP (from 2 to 5 seconds), 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

Frame rate: fixed.


Picture size:

Resolution: 1080 x 1920 (recommended option) Minimum is 540 x 960 px.

Aspect ratio: 9 x 16

Audio bit rate: 128 kbps or higher

Duration: 60 seconds maximum


INSTAGRAM


✓ Images:


  • Format: JPEG or PNG
  • Size: up to 8 MB
  • Aspect ratio: between 3:4 and 1.91:1
  • Minimum width: 320 pixels (scaled to minimum if necessary).
  • Maximum width: 1440 pixels (scaled down to the maximum if necessary).
  • Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio.


Image size:


  • Maximum Columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
  • Minimum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 3:4
  • Maximum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 16:9


Instagram does not support ProPhoto RGB, the standard color profile in Photoshop and Lightroom. If used, it may affect the color in the published images.


✓ Reels:


  • Size : up to 500 MB
  • Duration: from 3 seconds up to 15 minutes
  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
  • Video codec: H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
  • Audio bit rate: 128kbps
  • Video bit rate: VBR, 25Mbps max.
  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS. - Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.


Video size:

Instagram only allows individual videos to be published as Reels via its API. From Metricool, all videos will be sent as Reels (not as feed posts). You can still include videos in carousels, as long as their aspect ratio is between 4:5 and 16:9.

  • Story Image Specifications:

File size: 8 MB maximum.

Aspect ratio: We recommended 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space

Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB

  • Recommended Resolution (up to 2048 allowed) : 1024 x 512 pixels

  • Format: MP4, MOV or GIF
  • Size: up to 512 MB
  • Duration: up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds
  • Recommended video resolution (up to 2048 allowed): 1280x720 (landscape), 720x1280 (portrait), 720x720 (landscape), 720x720 (square)
  • Recommended aspect ratio: 16:9 (landscape or portrait), 1:1 (square)

-Recommended audio codec: AAC LC

  • Recommended video codec: H264 High Profile
  • Recommended minimum audio bit rate 128 kbps
  • Recommended minimum video bit rate: 5,000 kbps
  • Recommended frame rates: 30- 60 FPS
  • GOP (Group of pictures) : largest number of frames allowed in one GOP is 512.


Animated GIF recommendations:


  • Resolution should be 1280x1080 (width x height).
  • Number of frames: 350
  • Number of pixels (width x height x number of frames): 300 million
  • Size: up to 15MN

  • Format: JPG/PNG/WEBP/HEIC-HEIF.
  • Size: up to 1 MB.

  • Size up to 20 MB (per image if you choose a carousel)
  • Format: JPEG or WebP. If you upload a PNG, we'll convert it automatically since the API doesn't support it.
  • Resolution up to 1080p. In case the image exceeds the resolution, it will be automatically reduced to the limit.


YOUTUBE


**✓ Videos: **


  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Size: up to 500 MB
  • Shorts: Up to 3 minutes long.. Vertical or Square format.
  • Standard videos: Over 60 seconds. Horizontal format.
  • Video thumbnail: Recommended resolution 1280x720px


⚠️ Keep in mind the following duration limits:

  • Shorts should not reach the 2:59 min limit, as YouTube may slightly extend the video during processing, which could result in it being published as a standard video.
  • Unverified channels can't upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
