Daily Posting Limits on Social Media
Daily Posting Limits from Metricool
When scheduling posts on social media, it’s important to know the daily limits set by each platform. Some networks have specific restrictions, while others don’t provide detailed information. In these cases, we apply our Fair Use Policy for Social Media Scheduling ( see here), since excessive automation could be considered spam, and at Metricool, we promote responsible scheduling.
Below are the available posting limits per social network over a rolling 24-hour period:
Social Network | API Posting Limit per 24 Hours |
---|---|
50 posts. | |
30 Reels posts. | |
Threads | 250 posts / 1000 replies. |
YouTube | FREE: 10 posts / PREMIUM: 20 posts. |
📝 Notes
Carousel posts on Instagram and Facebook count as a single post within the account’s rate limit.
These limits are set by the social networks themselves and may change, except for YouTube, where the limit is internal and based on available quotas.
How Rolling 24-Hour Limits Work
The term "rolling 24 hours" means that posting limits don’t reset at a fixed time each day; instead, they are calculated over a continuously moving 24-hour window.
➡️ Example in Practice:
If a platform sets a limit of X posts per rolling 24 hours, it doesn’t mean you can post X times at midnight and then X more times at 12:01 AM. Instead, the platform evaluates the last 24 hours from your most recent action.
➡️ Example with Numbers:
You post 5 times at 10:00 AM.
You post 3 times at 2:00 PM.
You post 2 times at 8:00 PM.
If the limit is 10 posts in 24 hours, you won’t be able to post again until enough time has passed since your first post (10:00 AM the previous day). As hours pass and those posts "fall out" of the 24-hour window, you regain posting capacity.
💡 Tip: If you’re close to the limit, try spreading out your posts throughout the day instead of posting them all at once.
