Why is my TikTok post published without text?
The text doesn’t appear when publishing on TikTok from Metricool
In some cases, when publishing a TikTok post from Metricool, the video is published correctly but the text (caption) doesn’t appear.
This usually happens when the caption includes words or hashtags that TikTok rejects through its API.
In this article, we explain why this happens and how to avoid it.
What exactly happens?
Metricool publishes content to TikTok using the official TikTok API.
Before the post is published, TikTok automatically reviews the caption text.
If it detects that the content doesn’t meet its internal rules, the API:
- Rejects the entire text
- Publishes the video without a caption
⚠️ The post doesn’t fail or get canceled: it’s simply published without text.
Why can TikTok reject the caption?
TikTok doesn’t provide a public list of blocked words or hashtags and, in addition, its API validation is stricter than manual publishing from the app.
Some examples of content that may cause rejection include:
▪️Words or hashtags related to:
- Sexual or suggestive content
- Drugs, alcohol, or gambling
- Violence or aggressive language
▪️Hashtags:
- Associated with spam
- Penalized or restricted (shadowbanned)
▪️Excessive use of:
- Repeated hashtags
- Uncommon emojis or special characters
▪️Phrases that may be interpreted as:
- Misleading promises
- Unclear advertising (“easy money”, “guaranteed results”, etc.)
If just one word or hashtag doesn’t pass the filter, TikTok discards the entire caption.
Why does removing one specific word fix the issue?
Because TikTok validates the text before publishing.
If removing a word or hashtag makes the caption comply with its rules, the API accepts it and the text is published normally.
Can Metricool tell which word is causing the issue?
No. TikTok’s API doesn’t specify which part of the text was rejected, it only returns a generic content-related error.
For this reason, Metricool can’t show a more specific warning.
✅ How to prevent the caption from being removed
We recommend:
- Using clear and direct text
- Avoiding questionable or overly promotional hashtags
- Reducing the number of hashtags
- If a post is published without text:
- Review the caption
- Remove suspicious words or hashtags
- Publish again
