Metricool Two-factor authentication

What is it about?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a double-security system for accessing your Metricool account. By default it is disabled, so you must activate it manually.

Activation

Inside Metricool, go to the top right menu > Account Settings > Access. You will find the option "Two-factor authentication", just click on ENABLE button. Once activated, you will see a pop-up window with instructions to follow:

Download an authentication app on your mobile phone. An example of such an app would be Google Authenticator ( iOs and Android) or Authy ( iOS and Android), but you can use other authentication apps that you use regularly.

Scan the QR shown in the message, add your Metricool password and the code given by your app and click the "Activate" button (you must do this within 30 seconds).

How to login with two-step authentication

The first thing to do is to log in with your email and password, as usual.

A second pop-up window will appear where you must enter the code you previously configured.

Remove two-step authentication

You can disable this option at any time in the Account Settings. You will be asked to confirm your password and authentication code.

If you want to activate it again, you will have to delete the Metricool account from the authentication app and do the activation process again.

❓FAQs

Can two-factor authentication be linked to a phone number?

No. Based on Metricool's current setup, two-factor authentication is linked to an authentication app on your phone, not to a phone number.

To activate it, you must install an authentication app, scan the QR code shown in Metricool, and enter the verification code generated by the app.

What happens if I change my phone?

If you change phones, you will need to set up your authentication app again with your Metricool account.

If you disable and reactivate two-factor authentication, you must delete the Metricool account from the authentication app and repeat the activation process.

Do I receive the verification code by SMS?

No. The current Metricool setup described in this article uses a verification code generated by an authentication app.
