Best practices to minimize disconnections on social networks
Protect Your Social Accounts
Although some social account disconnections are inevitable, there are some you can prevent. Social networks may disconnect you when they detect certain behaviors to keep your accounts and data secure. Here are some tips to protect yourself from these disconnections:
Manage permissions in Meta Business Manager: For Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Ads, it is crucial to properly manage permissions in Meta Business Manager. Ensure that only necessary people have access to advertising accounts and pages. Regularly review and update the roles and permissions of each team member. Proper permission management not only avoids unexpected disconnections but also protects your business from unauthorized access and possible human errors that may compromise the security of your accounts.
For managing multiple Facebook pages, as often happens in agencies, we recommend diversifying the administrators who connect to Metricool. This way, if Facebook performs an automatic permission revocation, the impact of your pages' disconnection is minimized, meaning you will have to reconnect fewer pages.
Do not share your credentials: Avoid sharing usernames and passwords with team members. Each person should log in to their own social accounts. Social networks may disconnect accounts if they detect logins from different devices, browsers, or locations. Additionally, if you need to share access to your Metricool brands, manage users with an Advanced or Custom plan.
Avoid logging in on unknown devices: Do not log in to your social accounts from unknown or public devices, as these may be compromised and put your credentials at risk.
Avoid multiple IPs: Avoid logging in from multiple IP addresses, especially if they are geographically distant, as this may raise suspicions of unusual activity and result in your account being disconnected.
Enable two-step authentication (2FA): Enable two-step authentication on all your social accounts. This adds an extra layer of security, requiring not only your password but also a code sent to your mobile device.
Manage account contacts: Ensure that you and your team know who will manage the account contact with Metricool. Whoever adds or reconnects the social account must remain the page or account administrator. Changing these permissions may disconnect the account.
Do not revoke Metricool access: Avoid revoking Metricool access from your social account settings. When adding a social account to Metricool, the application is authorized in the list of integrations of your social account. If Metricool is removed from that list (access revocation), the account will be disconnected.
Regularly review access: Set up a recurring reminder to review who has access to your accounts on Facebook and LinkedIn, and remove those who no longer need it. Remember that the user who adds and reconnects these accounts must maintain their administrator access.
Use your real name: On LinkedIn and Facebook, use the same name as in daily life so people can easily identify you. Aliases may be marked as suspicious.
Be proactive: Keep your social accounts secure by being proactive. Many disconnections occur when a social network suspects your account is compromised. If your security policies require updating login information, your accounts will be disconnected from Metricool when updating passwords.
