➡️ Access and plans
▪️ Is SmartLinks available on the FREE plan?
No, SmartLinks is a feature exclusive to premium plans. You need to upgrade your plan to create and manage SmartLinks.
▪️ How many SmartLinks can I create?
With premium plans, you can create unlimited SmartLinks in your account.
▪️ Can collaborators with the Manager role create SmartLinks?
This may vary depending on your account’s permission settings. If a Manager can’t create SmartLinks, contact the account administrator to review permissions or ask them to create and share the link with you.
➡️ Configuration and customization
▪️ What format should my SmartLink URL have?
The URL must contain only alphanumeric characters (a–z, 0–9) and hyphens (-) or underscores (_). It can’t start or end with hyphens. The base domain will automatically be t.mtrbio.com or t-sml.mtrbio.com.
Valid example: t.mtrbio.com/my-bio-link
▪️ Can I use my own custom domain?
No, it’s currently not possible to replace the mtrbio.com domain with a custom one. All SmartLinks use Metricool’s domain.
▪️ Can I choose the typography of my SmartLink?
Yes, you can choose from different fonts available in the SmartLinks editor to customize your page style and match your brand’s visual identity.
▪️ How many buttons and images can I add?
You can add up to:
- 100 linked buttons
- 50 images or videos (from your latest 50 Instagram posts or files uploaded manually)
▪️ What image ratios can I use in SmartLinks?
Metricool supports three image ratios to optimize display across different platforms:
- 1:1 (square) – Classic ratio, ideal for profile images and general content (example: 1080x1080 pixels)
- 4:5 (vertical) – Optimized for Instagram, ideal for featured visual content (example: 1080x1350 pixels)
- 16:9 (horizontal) – YouTube cover ratio, perfect for videos or panoramic content (example: 1920x1080 pixels)
▪️ What size should images be?
Header: Images with transparency must not exceed the following maximum dimensions: 400px x 200px.
There’s no strict required size, but we recommend:
- Square images (1:1): 300x300 or 1080x1080 pixels
- Vertical mobile images (4:5): 1080x1350 pixels (ideal for Instagram)
- Horizontal images (16:9): 1920x1080 pixels (ideal for YouTube covers)
▪️ Images appear that I didn’t add, why?
If your Instagram account is connected, Metricool automatically syncs your latest posts. You can remove them manually from the editor or limit the content to files you upload yourself.
➡️ Use and management
▪️ Can I create or edit SmartLinks from the mobile app?
No, SmartLinks management (create, edit, configure) is only available from the desktop browser. From mobile, you can only preview how your SmartLink looks.
▪️ Can I clone a SmartLink to another brand?
It’s not possible to move or clone SmartLinks between different brands. You’ll need to manually create a new SmartLink in the destination brand by copying the original configuration.
▪️ Can I schedule links to appear or disappear in my SmartLink?
No, this feature isn’t currently available. Links remain visible until you manually remove them.
▪️ How do I add my SmartLink to Instagram or TikTok?
Copy the full URL of your SmartLink (example: https://t.mtrbio.com/your-name) and paste it into the “Website” field of your Instagram or TikTok profile. It’s important to place it in the website field, not in the bio text.
For more details, check our complete guide to links in bio.
▪️ Can I automatically add scheduled posts to my SmartLink?
Yes, when creating or scheduling posts from the planner, you can select the option to automatically add them to one or more of your SmartLinks.
➡️ Analytics
▪️ What metrics can I see in SmartLinks analytics?
SmartLinks analytics show you:
- Total SmartLink views
- Clicks on each individual button
- Clicks on each image or video
- CTR (click-through rate) per element
- View evolution over time
- Data export in CSV format
You can check our SmartLinks analytics guide to understand each metric.
▪️ My SmartLink statistics aren’t updating
There may be a delay in data updates, especially after high-traffic campaigns. If the issue persists for more than 24 hours, contact support and include the name of the affected SmartLink.
▪️ Can I export analytics data?
Yes, you can export all analytics data to a CSV file from the Analytics tab of your SmartLink.
▪️ Can I view my SmartLinks data in Looker Studio?
Yes, your SmartLinks data is available in the Looker Studio connector. You can use it to create custom dashboards and combine it with data from your other social networks.
➡️ Troubleshooting
▪️ I get the “Invalid URL” error when creating my SmartLink, what should I do?
This error usually appears due to:
- Use of unsupported characters (accents, special symbols)
- Trying to include domain extensions (such as .fr or .es) in the name
- Browser cache issues
Solutions: Use only letters, numbers, and hyphens. Try your browser’s incognito mode. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
▪️ My SmartLink doesn’t load or appears blank, what’s happening?
This is usually caused by browser cache issues, corporate firewalls, or VPNs. To fix it:
Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
Select “Cached images and files”
Click “Clear data”
Firefox, Edge, and Safari: Similar steps in the settings/privacy menu.
▪️ My SmartLink shows outdated content
Clear your browser cache following the steps above. If the issue persists, try accessing it from a different browser or in incognito mode.
▪️ What do the preview symbols on my links mean?
These symbols indicate that the URL isn’t publicly available or has changed. Make sure the link is publicly accessible and add it again to your SmartLink.
▪️ The link in my Instagram bio isn’t clickable
Check that:
- You’ve pasted the URL in the profile’s “Website” field, NOT only in the bio text
- If you recently reconnected your Instagram account, there may be a synchronization delay
- The URL is complete and starts with
https://
[1] 📝 The only exception applies to white-label integrators who request a custom URL through a CNAME configuration process. Outside of this case, it’s not possible to customize the SmartLink domain. |
