Account type on Instagram

Instagram account type


There is three Instagram account type :


  • Personal
  • Creator
  • Business


In Metricool it is possible to connect professional accounts business or creator . Personal accounts are not supported.


Switch account type


If you have an Instagram professional account, you can change your Instagram account from business to personal at any time. Note: When you switch back to a personal account, in-app insights will be turned off and insights from all your content, including content and insights for ads, will be permanently removed.You’ll also lose access to Meta business tools like Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager.


You can see what type of Instagram account you have and swicht it, from the Instagram mobile app with these instructions:


  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines for more options in the top right.
  3. Tap Account type and tools.
  4. Tap Account type.
  5. Tap Switch account type.
  6. Select the available option under Switch to (this will vary depending on your current account).



If you have a personal account, follow these steps instead:


  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines for more options in the top right.
  3. Scroll down to find Account type and tools.
  4. Tap Account type and tools.
  5. Tap Switch to professional account.
  6. Complete the setup.

Remember that to autopublish your posts, reels, carousels you can use the business or creator account type, if you want to automatically publish your stories your account must be business.
