Cookies in Metricool

At Metricool, we ensure compliance with privacy regulations by providing services that involve the use of cookies or similar technologies.

It is recommended that your Privacy and/or Cookie Policy inform users about the use of tools that enable the analysis of visits anonymously and in aggregate. By explaining that these technologies comply with legal requirements, it can be clarified that user consent is not required, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies.

Below, we explain how cookies and related technologies are managed in different scenarios:

Visiting the Metricool website

When a client or user visits the Metricool website ( https://metricool.com/), the cookies described in our Cookie Policy are installed.

Technical and functional cookies: These are installed automatically, as they are necessary for the basic functioning of the website.
Analytical and advertising cookies: These are only installed if the user explicitly accepts them by clicking the "Accept" button in the cookie banner.

For more details on the cookies used, their purpose, and duration, refer to section 3 of our Cookie Policy.

Connecting social media profiles

Metricool allows clients/users to connect their social media profiles to facilitate content management and planning. In this case, Metricool does not install cookies or use devices to store or retrieve information, in compliance with Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE.

Using the visit tracker for connected websites

When a client/user connects their website to Metricool to use the "tracker" functionality and measure visits:

No cookies are used; instead, a JavaScript code connects to Metricool's server.
This script does not store information on the visitor's device or assign unique identifiers.
It only accesses the visitor's IP address during the connection, which is necessary to display the website. The IP address is not stored.

This tool provides anonymous and aggregated data about the number of visits and pages viewed, used exclusively to deliver the service contracted by the client/user.

Considerations about the tracker

While some may consider this JavaScript code a technology similar to cookies, according to the "Guide on the Use of Cookies for Audience Measurement Tools" published by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), consent under Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE is not required if the following conditions are met:

The technologies are strictly limited to audience measurement.
Processing is anonymous and carried out solely on behalf of the site editor.
Data is not cross-referenced with other processing activities or shared with third parties.

Metricool fully complies with all these conditions when providing the visit tracker service, acting as a Data Processor according to the obligations outlined in section 16.2 of the Terms and Conditions of service.
