CTR (Click-Through Rate) measures the percentage of people who click on your buttons or images compared to the total number of visits your SmartLink receives.
This metric helps you evaluate how engaging and effective your SmartLink content is at turning visitors into clicks.
How CTR is calculated
Metricool uses the industry-standard formula to calculate CTR:
CTR formula: (Clicks ÷ Visits) × 100
⚠️ Make sure you’re sharing the main URL of your SmartLink (the one ending in mtrbio.com/your-name) and not the internal version containing /public/smartlink/.
If you share the second one, visits won’t be tracked correctly in your Metricool analytics.
You can check and copy the correct URL from your SmartLink settings before posting it on social media.
For example:
If a button gets 9 clicks and the SmartLink has 10 visits, CTR = (9 ÷ 10) × 100 = 90%
If a button gets 9 clicks and the SmartLink has 1 visit, CTR = (9 ÷ 1) × 100 = 900%
If a button gets 5 clicks and the SmartLink has 100 visits, CTR = (5 ÷ 100) × 100 = 5%
Why you might see CTR values over 100%
It’s normal to see very high CTR values (like 300%, 900%, or even more) when your SmartLink has few visits but multiple button clicks.
Common scenarios explaining high CTRs:
Typical user behavior: A single visitor may click several different buttons during one visit. This counts as 1 visit but multiple clicks.
Example:
A user opens your SmartLink (1 visit)
Clicks 3 different buttons (3 clicks)
Resulting CTR: (3 ÷ 1) × 100 = 300%
Browser sessions: If a user keeps your SmartLink open and clicks again later without refreshing, additional clicks are recorded without new visits.
