How to create a Thread

Schedule your content

To schedule a post, go to the Planning tab in the top menu and follow these steps:

1. Click on "+ Create new post" and select Threads
2. Add the text (up to 500 characters). You can create threads (up to 80 posts) and mention other accounts (e.g., @metricool).
3. Optional: Upload the image or video file, up to 20 images or videos (you can select a frame from the video as the cover).
4. Global settings: you can enable the URL shortener and select SmartLinks.
5. Threads settings: choose who can reply to the post:

• Everyone: Anyone can reply to this post
• Accounts you follow: Only the accounts you follow can reply
• Accounts you mention: Only the accounts mentioned in the post can reply
• Your followers: Only your followers can reply to this post

6. Select the time and date and save the post.

Additionally, you have these extra options:

• Ghost post: In the content type selector, choose Ghost instead of Post. The post will automatically disappear after 24 hours.
• Mark image as spoiler: Click on the three dots on the image and enable the Spoiler option. The image will appear blurred, and users will need to tap it to view it.

• Format: Officially supported image formats are JPEG and PNG.
• File Size: Maximum 8 MB.
• Aspect Ratio Limit: 10:1
• Minimum Width: 320 (will scale to minimum if necessary)
• Maximum Width: 1440 (will scale to maximum if necessary)
• Height: Varies (depending on width and aspect ratio)
• Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will be converted to sRGB.

• Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
• Audio Codec: AAC, maximum sample rate of 48 kHz, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
• Video Codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
• Frame Rate: 23-60 FPS
• Image Size: Maximum Width (horizontal pixels): 1920
• Aspect Ratio: Between 0.01:1 and 10:1, but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or white space.
• Video Bitrate: VBR, maximum 25 Mbps.
• Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps.
• Duration: Maximum of 300 seconds (5 minutes), minimum greater than 0 seconds.
• File Size: Maximum 1 GB.
