Character limit for each social network

Each social network sets its own character limit for post text. First comments use separate limits on the networks that support them.
Post character limits
These limits apply to the main post text in the composer:

First comment character limits
On networks that support a first comment, the comment has its own character cap:

Good to know
On X (formerly Twitter), links always count as 23 characters, regardless of the actual URL length.
If you have X Premium (X's own subscription), you can use the same character limits allowed natively. After you activate it, it can take up to 24 hours for the update to appear in Metricool.
When posting directly on a platform, the character limit might be higher. API (?) limits used by third-party tools are often stricter than native limits on the network itself.
Metricool’s post composer does not support rich-text formatting. You cannot apply bold, italic, underline, or bullet points to post text in the composer. If a social network supports native text formatting, apply that formatting on the platform after publishing.
Some emojis, special characters, links, or Unicode combinations may not be counted the same way by the planner counter and the social network. A post can exceed the platform’s real text limit even if the counter looks within range, especially when the text is very close to the limit. If that happens, shorten the copy and try again. On Instagram, this rejection may appear as a generic unknown error.
