Data Studio Error: Invalid token
Updated 3 weeks ago
If you see this message in your Data Studio report: E012: error getting brands for your account. Maybe your token is not valid... it means the connection token between Metricool and Data Studio is no longer valid.
Why this happens
The invalid token error can occur for different reasons:
Your token was compromised and you regenerated it for security. In this case, your Data Studio data source still has the old token.
You changed your Metricool account or switched to a different account. The token in Data Studio belongs to the previous account.
Your token expired or was invalidated due to account changes, plan modifications, or other reasons.
How to fix it
If you regenerated your token: You need to update your data source in Data Studio with the new token. Change API Key / Token in Data Studio
If your token was compromised: First, regenerate your token in Metricool, then update it in Data Studio. Regenerate your API connection token
If you changed accounts: Generate a new token from your current Metricool account and update it in Data Studio. Where to find the API Key / Token
The error code may vary (for example, it might not always be E012), but if the message includes "maybe your token is not valid", the issue is usually the same: the token is no longer valid.
