Why Meta may restrict a new Business account connected to Metricool

If Meta sends a notification that says "We restricted your business" shortly after you connect Metricool, the restriction comes from Meta’s automated systems — not from Metricool. Metricool cannot lift it. Only Meta can review and restore the account.

The notice often lists limits such as can’t create or run ads and can’t share or use audiences, with a reason like "It looks like this account was created or used with an automation that doesn't follow our rules." That wording is Meta’s generic message for unusual activity on new accounts. It does not name or single out Metricool.

Metricool is an official Meta Business Partner. The OAuth connection is not blacklisted. This is a known, generic Meta behavior toward new or recently created Meta Business accounts, not something isolated to Metricool users.

Why this happens

Meta’s automated anti-fraud system can flag a new or recently created Meta Business account when it grants permissions and starts generating Graph API activity without an established usage history.

Common trigger conditions:

  • The Meta Business account is new or has little prior activity.

  • You grant permissions such as posting, business management, or ads management when connecting an external tool.

  • The account begins making Graph API calls right away, which Meta can treat as automated activity on a young account.

  • If you did not already have an Ad Account, Meta sometimes auto-creates one when it detects the connection — and that new Ad Account is often the first asset restricted.

The timing (right after a first Metricool connection) is coincidental with the permission grant and API activity, not evidence that Metricool caused a ban.

If your account has been active for months and this still happens, this specific explanation may not apply — this pattern is specific to newly created Meta Business accounts. Please contact our support team so we can review your case individually.

What to do

Request a review from Meta. Metricool support cannot reverse a Meta business restriction.

  1. Open Meta Business Support Home and go to Account status overview.

  2. Select the restricted account or asset.

  3. Choose Request Review and submit the appeal.

If the restriction specifically affects advertising or audiences — the most common case in this pattern — you can request a review directly here: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/530209463124901

Meta’s review time varies. It commonly takes a couple of days, and sometimes longer. There is no fixed turnaround Metricool can guarantee.

Do not create a new Meta account or Business Manager to work around the restriction. Meta tends to detect this and may restrict both the original and the new account.

While you wait:

How to prevent it

For brand-new Meta Business accounts, build a short history of normal use before connecting external tools.

  • Complete the Business profile in Meta Business Suite and verify the Business when Meta offers that option.

  • Post manually from Meta’s own apps for a few weeks so the account has organic activity.

  • After that trust signal exists, connect Metricool and accept the requested permissions.

This does not eliminate every Meta review, but it reduces the chance that a young account is flagged the moment external API activity starts.
