They can check available information based on the assigned permission, such as analytics, Inbox, planner, Ads, SmartLinks, dashboards, or flows, but can't make changes in those sections.
Roles and permissions in Metricool
Updated today
A role is a reusable set of permissions that decides what a person can do in Metricool. You can use the default roles or create your own, and assign them to team members and collaborators from User management.
Adding people and assigning roles is available on Advanced and Custom plans. Free and Starter plans include a single access.
Default roles
Metricool includes default roles that you can assign right away. They show a lock icon in the Roles and permissions tab because you can't edit them, but you can clone any of them to create your own version. Click View permissions next to a role to see what it allows.
Super Admin: everything, including all organization permissions.
Account Manager: all brand permissions, plus adding brands.
Analyst, Editor, Content Creator, and Client: brand permissions for different levels of access.
You can also create a custom role with exactly the permissions you need.
Each role has two kinds of permissions:
Brand permissions control what someone can do inside a brand: view analytics, schedule posts, reply in the Inbox, and more.
Organization permissions control what someone can do across your whole organization, such as adding brands or inviting team members. They only apply to team members.
How to add a role
Only the owner and team members with the Manage roles permission can create custom roles. Once created, anyone who can manage access to a brand can assign that role.
Go to User management and open the Roles and permissions tab. If you have access to more than one organization, select the right one in the Organization selector first: you will see the roles of that organization.
You have two options:
Click Add role.
Enter a Role name. This field is required.
Optionally, add a Description and choose a Role color.
Turn on the permissions you want, or turn on Enable all permissions to select every permission at once.
Save the role.
Or, to start from an existing role, clone it from the list view by clicking the copy icon at the end of its row, then customize it.
You can switch between the grid view and the list view with the icons next to Add role. The list view also shows how many brand assignments and people use each role.
Permissions are grouped into four categories. You can collapse each category to see the others more easily.
Type of permissions
➡️ View only permissions: the person can access the following functions, but can't make any changes.
Analytics view: Allows you to see all analytics from all connected networks. You can also view competitors, detailed analytics lists such as posts, reels, stories or campaigns, and the Hashtag Tracker.
Summary analytics view: Allows you to see a basic summary of the analytics from all connected networks in the form of timelines, numerical metrics, and pie charts.
View inbox: Allows you to view Inbox conversations and notes, but does not allow you to reply to direct messages or comments, or to create, edit or delete notes.
View planner: Allows you to view the entire publishing calendar as well as planned posts information, but not to make any modifications to planned posts, nor create or delete them. It does allow you to create, edit and delete notes on posts.
View ads: Allows you to view all information related to ad campaigns, but not to perform any action on them or create new ones.
View SmartLinks: Allows you to view the available SmartLinks and their analytics, but not to perform any modification on them.
View Campaign Dashboards: Allows you to view the available dashboards and their analytics, but not to perform any modification on them.
View Flows: Allows you to view flows and their analytics, but not to create, edit or delete them.
➡️ Editing permissions: the person can use the visualization functions and can also modify and download information.
Reports: Gives full access to the analytics and allows you to create reports and manage their templates. It also allows you to download analytics data.

Flows: Gives full access to the Flows section, including creating, modifying and deleting flows.
➡️ Management permissions
Brand: Gives full access to the brand configuration, including the creation and management of connections and managing the people who have access to the brand and their roles.
If there is a publish failure, the notice will be received by people with the brand permission and the account owner.
➡️ Organization permissions: these control what someone can do across the whole organization. They only apply to team members, not to collaborators, even if the collaborator's role includes them.
Manage brands: Allows you to create and delete the organization's brands.
Manage roles: Allows you to create, edit and delete the organization's roles.
Manage team members: Allows you to add and remove team members.
Manage White Label settings: Allows you to change the agency configuration. It only appears on White Label plans.
Rules when you assign a role
A role with only organization permissions can't be assigned to a collaborator. You will see an error. Add at least one brand permission to the role, or add the person as a team member.
A role with at least one brand permission can be assigned to a collaborator. The organization permissions in that role are ignored for the collaborator, and apply only if you assign the same role to a team member.
For example, a custom role with only Manage brands and Manage team members works for team members only. An "Editor" role with only brand permissions works for both.
Optimize planning work with the content approval system.
