How notifications work in post approval
Updated 2 weeks ago
During the post approval process, Metricool generates notifications in the following cases:
When a post is sent for review (notification for reviewers)
When a post is approved (notification for the creator)
When a post is rejected (notification for the creator)
The post approval system is available on the Advanced and Custom plans.
Creators receive a notification when their post is approved or rejected, for the channels they enable in their notification preferences.
Notifications for reviewers (pending posts)
When a post is sent for review, reviewers receive a notification to review the pending content. The Send email notification toggle controls whether an email is sent. This applies to both Metricool users and external reviewers added by email.
If the reviewer has a Metricool account, the notification always appears in Main menu > Review requests regardless of the toggle. The toggle only controls whether they also receive an email.
If the reviewer is added using an external email, the toggle controls whether they receive an email with a link to the reviewer portal. If the toggle is enabled, they receive an email linking to the portal, where all posts assigned to them for that brand are grouped. If disabled, no email is sent — but the post still appears in the portal if the reviewer accesses it through a previous link.
If you are a reviewer with a Metricool account and do not receive an email, check Review requests in Metricool. Posts pending review always appear in this section even if the email was not sent.
Notifications when sending posts in bulk
When several posts are sent for review using bulk actions, the email behavior depends on the type of reviewer:
Metricool users with access to the brand (shared brand): receive a single email containing all posts pending review.
Reviewers added via external email: receive a separate email for each post sent for review. Every email links to the same reviewer portal for that brand, so the reviewer can access all pending posts from a single page.
Only members who have access to the brand in Metricool appear as selectable users. If the reviewer has an account but does not have access to that brand, you must add them using an external email.
Notifications for creators (rejected posts)
When a reviewer approves or rejects a post you scheduled, you receive a Post approved or Post rejected notification for the channels you enable in your notification preferences.
See Manage your notification preferences to choose how you receive these.
