Recover a forgotten password from the login page, or change your current one from Account settings. This article covers both flows, plus the password requirements, password expiration, and two-step authentication.
When you change or recover your password, all active sessions in web browsers are automatically logged out for security (except your current session if you make the change from Account settings). This process may take up to 15 minutes, and you'll need to log in again in those browsers. The mobile app does not log out automatically.
Your Metricool account password must meet all of the following criteria:
Contain at least 1 uppercase letter
Contain at least 1 lowercase letter
Contain at least 1 number
Contain at least 1 special character
Be between 8 and 20 characters long
For security reasons, your Metricool password expires automatically after a set period. A few days before it expires, we send you an email reminder so you can update it and avoid losing access.
If you don't update it in time, you can't log in and will need to create a new one using the "I forgot my password" option on the login screen.
If you don't remember your password, go to the Metricool login page and click on "I forgot my password".
Then, you can add the email associated with your Metricool account to receive an email to reset your password. If you registered with Facebook instead of with an email and password, the user email will be the one associated with your Facebook account.
Then, you will receive an email with a link to your account settings to add the new password.
To change your password while logged in, you'll need to confirm the change with your current password. If you don't remember it, log out and use the recovery process instead.
From the side menu, go to Account settings.
Select Access.
Enter your new password.
Click Save changes.
Verify the change by entering your current password.
Click Confirm.
If you enter an incorrect current password during verification, you'll see the error "Could not update user credentials. Old password is incorrect". If you don't remember your current password, log out and use the "I forgot my password" option on the login page to receive a recovery link via email.
You can enable two-step authentication for extra account protection. See the Metricool Two-factor authentication article for setup instructions.
