Add content to an autolist using the API

You can add content to an existing autolist through the API with two calls: create an empty slot in the list, then fill that slot with your post's text and media. This works from any HTTP client, including Postman, Make, n8n, or Zapier.

Prerequisites

Both calls need your userToken, userId, blogId, and the autolist's internal ID.

Value	Where to find it
`userToken`	Account Settings > API section > REST API Access token. Send it in the `X-Mc-Auth` request header.
`userId`	Your Metricool user identifier. See How to find your Metricool user ID.
`blogId`	The brand/profile identifier, visible in the browser URL when using that brand in Metricool.
`listid`	The autolist's internal ID. It doesn't always match the ID shown in the planner URL (`/planner/autolist/{X}`) — confirm it from the response of the call in step 1 instead of assuming it.

Create an empty slot

Creating a slot reserves a position in the autolist. The response is the full autolist array, including the new item's id — you use that value as postid in the next step.

Field	Description
`listid`	The autolist's internal ID.
`position`	Where to insert the new post. `0` inserts it at the top of the list.

Every call to this endpoint adds a new empty row to the autolist, even if you don't complete the next step. Repeated calls build up empty rows — remove them from the autolist with Delete all in the Metricool planner.

Fill the slot with content

Send this call as form-data, not JSON.

Field	Value
`listid`	The autolist's internal ID.
`text`	The post's text content.
`postid`	The `id` returned in the previous step.
`pictures`	Image or video file for the post. When there's no image, send `[]` — a blank/empty value saves the text but silently fails the rest of the request.

Troubleshooting

500 InternalError: "Request method 'POST' is not supported"

You called /api/lists/posts/create with POST. This endpoint only accepts GET — switch the request method to GET and keep the same query parameters.

Request succeeds but the post doesn't look right

If pictures was sent blank/empty instead of [], the call returns success and saves the text, but the rest of the update fails silently. Resend with pictures set to [] when there's no image.
