How to schedule a post at different times on each network using Metricool's MCP
Updated today
With Metricool's MCP, you can ask an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to schedule the same post on several networks, each at its own time. Your assistant creates one scheduled post per network, so you can also give each one its own caption.
In the planner, a post has a single publishing time for all the networks you select. To publish the same content at a different time on each network, use Metricool's MCP.
How it works
When you ask for a post on several networks at different times, your assistant can:
Read your brand settings to see which networks are connected and which time zone you use.
Check the best time to post on each network, if you haven't set a time.
Write a caption adapted to each network, or use the ones you provide.
Create the scheduled posts, one per network, at the times you chose.
Give you a link to each post in the planner so you can review it.
Each network is its own scheduled post. Editing or moving one does not change the others.
Before you start
You need Metricool's MCP connected to your AI assistant, at least one connected network, and your media available through a direct link.
Metricool's MCP connected to your AI assistant. It works with any Metricool plan, including Free. Follow How to connect Metricool's MCP for Claude, ChatGPT and other tools, or the dedicated guide for ChatGPT.
The networks connected to your brand in Metricool. Your assistant can only schedule on networks you have already connected.
Your video or image available through a direct link. The link must open the file itself. A link to a page, such as a YouTube video or an Instagram post, fails and the post is not created. Use a public URL, or a file in Google Drive or Dropbox. In Google Drive, share the file as "Anyone with the link": if it is private, it fails. In ChatGPT you can also attach the file directly. In Claude, attaching the file to the chat does not work yet, so use a link.
Schedule a Reel at a different time on each network
The example below publishes a Reel on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads. You can set the times yourself or ask your assistant to suggest them.
Set the times yourself
Tell your assistant what to publish, where, and when:
Schedule this Reel on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads: [video link]. Publish it on TikTok at 12:00, on Instagram at 18:00, on X at 19:00 and on Threads at 21:00. Write a different caption for each network, based on this idea: [your idea].
Ask your assistant to suggest the times
Your assistant can check the best time to post on the networks that support it (see Best time to post below). You can also ask it to place the others relative to a network, such as one hour after Instagram:
Schedule this Reel on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads: [video link]. Use the best time to post this week on each network, and set Threads one hour after Instagram. Adapt the caption to each network.
Review the result
Check the proposal. Your assistant may show you the times and captions before it schedules anything. Ask for changes in the same conversation, for example "make the X caption shorter" or "move TikTok to the evening".
Open the planner. Each network appears as its own scheduled post, with its own time and caption.
Customize the caption for each network
Besides the time, you can set a different caption on each network. Provide the captions yourself, or give your assistant an idea and ask it to adapt the text to each network:
Schedule this Reel on Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads: [video link]. Use these captions. Instagram: [caption]. TikTok: [caption]. X: [caption]. Threads: [caption].
Each network has its own rules for length and format, which are listed in the requirements section below.
Best time to post
Your assistant can suggest the best time to post for six networks. For the rest, set the time yourself, or ask for a rule such as "one hour after Instagram".
Network | Best-time suggestion |
|---|---|
Available | |
TikTok | Available |
X | Available |
Available | |
Available | |
YouTube | Available |
Threads | Not available. Set the time yourself. |
Bluesky | Not available. Set the time yourself. |
Not available. Set the time yourself. | |
Google Business Profile | Not available. Set the time yourself. |
The suggestion is returned as a list of days and hours with a score, where a higher score means a better time to post. It works best when you ask for a range of up to one week.
To check the best times directly in the planner, read Best time to post on social media in Metricool.
Requirements for each network
Each network has its own rules, and your assistant applies them when it schedules. For the example in this article:
Network | What to know |
|---|---|
Instagram Reel | A video is required. The post is scheduled as a Reel. |
TikTok | An image or a video is required, and a title is always required. |
X | Scheduled as a single post, never split into a thread. The maximum length depends on the account's X subscription (280 characters on standard accounts, longer on X Premium). If the caption is too long, you get an error and can shorten it. |
Threads | Scheduled like any other post. No best-time suggestion is available. |
Review and edit your scheduled posts
Every scheduled post comes with a link to the planner, where you can review and edit it like any other post.
Change a time or a caption. Edit the post in the planner, or ask your assistant: "Move the TikTok post one hour later."
Reschedule several posts at once. Ask your assistant to shift a group of posts, for example: "Move everything scheduled for next week one day later."
Send for review. If you have an Advanced plan or higher, ask your assistant to send the posts to review and choose the reviewers and the approval type.
FAQs
Do I need a paid Metricool plan?
Will the posts appear as a single post in the planner?
No. Each network appears as its own scheduled post, which lets you edit or move each one independently.
Do I need to attach the video every time?
Your assistant needs access to the video or image for each post. Share the same link in your request and it will use it for every network.
