More scheduling options with Metricool's MCP
Updated today
Metricool's MCP adds more ways to schedule from an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT: a different time on each network, recurring posts on any plan, the same content in several brands, different content on different days, and changes to many scheduled posts at once.
How the planner and the MCP work together
Posts created through the MCP appear in your planner, where you can review and edit them like any other post. You can use the planner, the MCP, or both, depending on what is quicker for the task.
The MCP supports the formats Metricool allows on each network.
What you want to do | With the MCP | In the planner |
|---|---|---|
Publish at a different time on each network | Ask for a time per network. Your assistant creates one scheduled post per network. | Schedule each network as its own post, or select all networks, save, and change each date from the calendar. See Multiposting: edit per social network. |
Repeat a post | Ask for the dates or the interval. Available on any plan. | Schedule recurrence, available on Advanced and Custom plans. See How to schedule recurring posts in Metricool. |
Publish the same content in several brands | Name the brands in one request. | Duplicate a post to another brand. See How to duplicate posts in Metricool. |
Publish different content on different days | Ask for the content and the day of each post in one request. | Import several posts with a CSV file, or duplicate posts in bulk. See How to schedule posts in batch with a CSV file in Metricool. |
Edit several scheduled posts | Describe the change and which posts it applies to. | Edit each post from the planner. |
Publish at a different time on each network
Ask for a time per network and, if you want, a different caption for each one. You can also ask your assistant to use the best time to post on the networks that support it.
Schedule this post on Instagram on Monday at 10:00, on LinkedIn on Tuesday at 9:00 and on X on Wednesday at 12:00: [your post text]
The requirements of each network are in How to schedule a post at different times on each network using Metricool's MCP.
Repeat a post on any plan
Ask for the dates or the interval, and your assistant creates a scheduled post for each date. Each date is its own post, so editing one doesn't change the others.
Schedule this post every 15 days for the next two months: [your post text]
Your plan limits still apply: on the Free plan, you can schedule up to 20 posts per month.
Schedule the same content in several brands
Name the brands where the post should go and the date, and your assistant reads your brands and creates a scheduled post in each one.
Schedule this post in Brand A and Brand C for tomorrow at 10:00: [your post text and media link]
Schedule different content on different days
Give your assistant the content of each post and the day it should go out, and it creates a scheduled post for each day. This is useful when every day needs a different piece, such as a week of daily posts.
Schedule these posts on Instagram at 10:00, one per day from Monday to Friday: [media link 1], [media link 2], [media link 3], [media link 4], [media link 5]
Change several scheduled posts at once
Describe the change and which posts it applies to, and your assistant updates the text, date, or network of each one.
Move everything scheduled for next week one day later.
The steps for editing posts through an assistant are in Schedule and edit posts through an LLM with Metricool's MCP.
What applies to every request
Each network, date, or brand is an individual post. You edit or move each one on its own in the planner.
Network requirements still apply. For example, Instagram needs an image or video, and YouTube needs a video and a title. Your assistant asks you for anything that's missing.
Your media must be available through a link. Use a public URL, or a file in Google Drive (linked to your Metricool account) or Dropbox. In ChatGPT, you can also attach the file directly.
Your plan limits still apply. See MCP limits and plan requirements.
What depends on the network or isn't available through the MCP
The MCP follows the rules each network sets for publishing, and it covers your brands, analytics, and the planner.
Instagram Highlights. Instagram's API doesn't let us assign a Story to a Highlight when it's published, so Stories scheduled with Metricool, including those created through the MCP, can't be sent to a Highlight. Once the Story is live, add it to a Highlight from the Instagram app.
Features not available through the MCP at the moment. Inbox messages, post comments, Smartlinks, Google Business Profile reviews, autolists, Canva or Drive files, and the management of Ads campaigns.
